TECEP exam prep: test out, with the readiness call made first

TECEP is TESU's own credit-by-exam program: pass a two-to-three-hour proctored exam and a course's worth of credit banks without a term, a mentor, or a tuition bill at course rates. This desk exists to make each sit a prepared one, and to say plainly when it would not be.

The short answer

Pick a target from TESU's fifty-plus TECEP catalog and the desk builds your kit: the official exam description decomposed into a study map, the tested topics turned into practice questions at real pace, weak areas drilled until they hold, and an honest go-or-wait call before you book, because a TECEP grades Credit or No Credit and an unready sit spends fee and calendar for nothing. The exam itself is always yours, on camera through ProctorU or an approved proctor; we prepare, verify readiness, and stop at the door. Most exams run mostly multiple-choice with some short-answer or essay sections, and the writing-heavy ones get writing-specific practice.

How a TECEP actually works

  • Each exam maps to a course equivalent and carries the -TE suffix, BIO-1010-TE style, worth the course's credits on a pass
  • Grading is Credit or No Credit: there is no partial, no letter, and no GPA entry, which shelters your average while it banks credit
  • Sittings run about two to three hours, proctored online through ProctorU or an approved in-person proctor
  • Formats are mostly multiple-choice; several carry short-answer or essay sections that reward practiced structure
  • The fee is a fraction of course tuition, which is the entire arithmetic, and why an unready attempt is the expensive version of cheap

The kit, exam by exam

Every TECEP publishes an official description with its tested topics and weighting, and that document is the syllabus we build from: each topic becomes a study block with plain-language notes, each block gets practice questions written at exam register, and the essay-bearing exams get model answer structures you practice against the clock. You study on your calendar, the desk answers questions as they come up, and the mock runs happen under time pressure because the real one will.

The go-or-wait call

Before any fee is spent, the desk scores your mock performance against the pass line and says one of two things: book it, or wait two weeks and drill these blocks first. Clients occasionally find the wait call annoying; they stop finding it annoying at the results screen. A No Credit outcome costs the fee, the scheduling lead time, and a retake window, and the whole point of a test-out strategy is that it saves money, which it only does when sits convert.

Proctored course exams, same desk

Some graded TESU courses also carry proctored exams through the university's Online Proctor Service arrangements, midterms and finals sat on camera inside an otherwise written-assignment course. The same prep-only law and the same method apply: the course's own materials decomposed, practice at pace, target math run from your standing gradebook so you know the score you actually need, and the sit entirely yours. Pair it with the assignment desk and the writing half of the course hands off while you study.

Where TECEP fits your degree

The strategy question, which requirements to test out of, which to transfer in, which to take as graded courses, is the credit bank manual's territory, and the requirement-by-requirement consult is free. The honest pattern: TECEP the material you already own from work and life, spend course tuition where structure and feedback genuinely pay, and never book a sit the mock scores have not cleared.
